WHY?

Mass production and overconsumption in the fashion industry place an enormous burden on our environment. New clothes are consumed thoughtlessly. The only question that arises is how to dispose of the clothes a few months later.

Fashion is becoming a disposable product, yet clothing can mean so much psychologically and physically.

IGKU dreams of a minimalist closet filled with well-chosen items of clothing that have a long-term function, meaning and therefore value for you.

When these clothes are worn out, you don’t think about where to dispose of them, but how you can preserve them.

HOW?

A garment can stay interesting through the seasons if it…

1 meets your needs. The garment performs a function for you (self-confidence, comfort, protection, etc.). A recurring personal need and the potential satisfaction of that need through this garment result in a high functional value.

2 has an emotional value. For example, through the use of biographical material. Biographical material symbolizes personal memories, experiences and milestones.

As raw material for a new project, the material has not only a qualitative value, but also an emotional value that flows into the new project.

WHAT?

IGKU is a high fashion label specializing in jackets and handbags. The pieces are handmade in Hamburg with the expertise of a master tailor.

In order to avoid overproduction, we select our material from high-quality dead stock and second-hand stock. All IGKU products are only available in limited quantities due to the limited availability of materials.

Our material philosophy offers the possibility to use individual used material for production in consultation with our customers.
